The Salvation Army is a world-wide organization, with roots going back to 1865.

Our base is in Christianity.  A desire to answer Jesus' call to feed the hungry and shelter the homeless motivates all of our social services.  Yet our doors, services, and genuine care are freely given to all, regardless of any faith background.

Our mission statement reads as follows:

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible.  Its ministry is motivated by the love of God.  Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
