Red Kettle Campaign struggles in closing weeks

LA CROSSE – With only a few weeks left of The Salvation Army of La Crosse’s biggest annual fundraiser, the Red Kettle Campaign remains hundreds of thousands of dollars behind.

The Campaign has raised a total of more than $680k – including the $245k raised during bell ringing – meaning just over $269k will need to be made in the closing weeks to hit the Campaign’s goal.

“We expect to make up quite a bit of ground over the Campaign’s final weeks but we’ll need all hands on deck to hit our goal,” said Nick Ragner of The Salvation Army. “We need all the support we can get in these final days to continue offering the programs and services to the thousands that come through our doors without the worry of a shortfall at the beginning of the year.”

The Red Kettle Campaign accounts for approximately one-third of The Salvation Army of La Crosse County’s annual budget.  Donations from November through January count toward the Campaign’s goal - $949,500 in 2017-18 – which funds everything from day-to-day services to seasonal programs.  The goal is comprised of donations made to red kettles, donations made outside of red kettles, and mail appeal donations.

“We have faith that this community will step up and help us continue providing service to those in need in La Crosse County,” said Major Jeff Richardson. “We are blessed to serve in this giving and compassionate community.”

While bell ringing finished on December 23rd, the Red Kettle Campaign runs through January 31st.  Those that would like to make a monetary donation can:
