Outside shelter

The Salvation Army in La Crosse operates a program shelter.

Residents move-in and meet with social workers.  Together, they develop a plan, or program, to get out of homelessness.  This may include a job search, an apartment search, and/or other services.

Our model is to provide a 'hand-up', not a 'hand-out'.

The shelter is open to men, women, and families.  Unaccompanied minors will not be accepted.  Shelter capacity is 80.

Donations help fund shelter operations.

Services include:

  • Three meals a day
  • Bed and bedding
  • Case management
  • Referrals to appropriate community resources
  • Alcohol and drug abuse counseling by a certified counselor
  • Employment education and assistance
  • Shower facilities
  • Laundry facilities
